👐🏻 General approach
I would say that it is a very creative and collaborative course, with a lot of freedom to explore your own interests.
💖 Student support
The support is great, both inside and outside the actual course. Each year group has 2 year heads, typically 1 male and 1 female. The staff are really friendly and you can definitely approach any of them with issues. There is also support outside of the course at the Queen's Student Centre.
🛠️ Facilities
The studio spaces are great and everyone gets their own desk. The library is fantastic and has a huge variety of literature. They recently invested in a brilliant model making workshop which has 3 laser cutters, 3D printers and other tools. You also have access to the concrete lab. There are A3/A4 printers accessible in the studios or library, and A2/A1 in the workshop. The workshop opens 9-5 and the studio is 7am-11pm. The Architecture society also runs a lecture series each year.
📄 Application Process
For undergraduate, in the UK you apply through UCAS and will have to get the specified grades to get in. If you did Art GCSE / A-Level, you typically won't have a portfolio interview, however this may have changed. If you didn't they will likely ask to see portfolio work. At Masters level, you will have an interview to be accepted and have to submit 10-15 pages of work.
😉 Insider Tips
Across the road there is a architecture shop where you can buy all the supplies you might need. Very close there is a street with a dozen coffee shops. There are 2 centra's nearby which you can get lunch/coffee/snacks at.
